Twice a month Mark Shunock gathers an eclectic cast of guests including stars from Hollywood, the Strip, musical acts, athletes, and celebrity chefs for 90 minutes of chat, entertainment – and a lot of laughs. Since 2013, Mondays Dark has partnered with over 30 local charities. It’s mission is to raise 10k in 90 minutes. The $20 variety show has become one of the hottest tickets in town and the list of charities waiting to partner with Mondays Dark continues to grow. Mondays Dark has raised over $500,000 and every penny has stayed here in Las Vegas with each of it’s featured charities.
A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, Mark is a former member of the Canadian Hockey League. After his hockey days ended, he spent almost 10 years living in New York City performing on Americas premiere stages. He earned a Helen Hayes Nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Timon in DISNEY’S THE LION KING. He recently starred in the smash hit ROCK OF AGES playing at the Venetian/Palazzo in Las Vegas.
He created MONDAYS DARK since months after moving to Las Vegas. To date he has helped raise over 300k for local Las Vegas charities, one party a month, $20 & 90 minutes at a time. He is the recipient of the 2014 Angel Award for Cultural Advocate/Entertainer of the Year. 2016 Review Journal Philanthropist of the Year. National Philanthropy Day Impact Award Recipient.
Three months after he was born, Aaron’s family relocated to Las Vegas from Southern California. After living in Las Vegas for almost four decades, he truly feels like a native LasVegan and is extremely passionate about the city and all it has to offer. Aaron spent 17 years with Wells Fargo Bank where held many positions, including Vice President and Market Manager. Five years ago, Aaron resigned his position with Wells Fargo to exclusively utilize his Nevada Real Estate License. He quickly became a Managing Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Asset Management Realty Advisors, a local boutique Residential Real Estate Firm.
Aaron has always been inspired to contribute to the community that he loves. He has been honored by the Nevada State Senate and Assembly for his volunteer work with local organizations such as AFAN, Opportunity Village, Junior Achievement, Ronald McDonald House and many more. Most recently, Aaron has been nominated to the Board of Directors for Monday’s Dark. Monday’s Dark is an exclusive non-profit organization that raises money for local charities every month by bringing together the amazing Las Vegas entertainment community. The fact that Aaron has a love for the arts and entertainment community, as well as supporting the local the community, makes this opportunity to serve as a Board Member even more exceptional. He looks forward to diving into this new role to raise even more money and continue to give to his beloved community.
When not running the Real Estate Business and volunteering in the community, Aaron enjoys supporting the local arts, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Denise Truscello began photography while living in Europe for 7 years. She studied photography on the streets of Paris and was influenced by the depth of black and white photography. Her first exhibition brought her to the attention of famed French photographer and Kodak Prize Winner, Edouard Boubat, her mentor until his death in 1999. Since then Denise has won Spot News Photos of the Year for her work at Ground Zero for the years 2002 and 2003. She has photographed covers for Billboard Magazine, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Paris Mach. Along with that, her images have been seen worldwide, in such magazines as Time, News Week, W, Elle, RolingStone and more. She has photographed personalities such as Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Mohamad Ali, Pope Francis, Kirk Douglas, Elton John, Hunter Thompson and countless others. She has photographed humanitarian efforts during the earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy, Ethiopia, Africa among others. Recently, Time magazine rated her Britney Spears Mannequin Challenge Video Video top 20 on the internet. Denise co-founded and runs the WireImage office in Las Vegas.
As CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada, Bob is working tirelessly to make United Way a powerful and effective catalyst for positive change in our community.
With more than ten years in various for profit leadership roles, Bob came to Las Vegas after serving for eight years as Chief Operating Officer for United Way in Buffalo NY, where he was instrumental in leading the turnaround and transformation of that organization.
After ten years of declining revenue and diminishing relevance, the United Way in Buffalo has posted six consecutive years of revenue growth and become a critical force for positive change in the community. Bob retooled the fundraising operation, moved the organization to an evidence informed Community Impact model, created a department for research and analytics, and launched a planned giving and endowment effort that raised over $6 million dollars in its first 18 months.
Bob has a Masters of Business Administration degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and has completed executive programs at the Harvard Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business in Performance Measurement for Nonprofits and Social Innovation. A husband, father of five, and reluctant dog owner, Morgan spends his time away from United Way with his wife Stephanie, often carting their children from one activity to another.
Former performer, Elizabeth has lived and traveled all over the world sharing her talent in places such as China, Russia, and on world class cruise lines. Although she loves the stage, she has found her newest passion in working in nonprofit and philanthropy. She spends her day to day working at United Way of Southern Nevada fundraising and running the “Young Philanthropists Society”, a social movement of movers and shakers in this community dedicated to giving back and improving lives. YPS’s signature program is The Piggy Bank a collaborative financial literacy program helping at-risk children learn to save.
Joyce Smith is the SVP, Regional Manager with Bank of Nevada and specializes in Commercial Depository and Lending services. With over 30 years in the banking industry she pride herself on exceptional customer service and financial services knowledge.
Married to Ken Smith for the past 37 years, she raised 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren.
Chet Buchanan is the host and creator of 98.5 KLUC’s Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo, Las Vegas’ longest running, and consistently one of the highest rated and most beloved radio shows. In addition to anchoring the fast-paced and often equal parts funny and emotionally moving morning show, Chet can be seen EVERYWHERE in Las Vegas. Many Las Vegans know Chet from his work as UNLV Basketball and Football Gameday Host, as the voice of NASCAR for Las Vegas Motor Speedway, appearing as a frequent contributor on HLN, Guest Host on Fox 5’s “More Access,” and for hosting the Miss USA and Miss Universe Presentation Shows as well as Miss Teen USA, Miss Nevada USA, Miss Nevada Teen USA and Mrs. Nevada America, or from his packed schedule hosting innumerable charity, corporate, and civic events. Since it’s inception, the 98.5 KLUC Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo Toy Drive has grown to become recognized as “The World’s Largest Single Location Toy Drive.” The 2015 Toy Drive continued yet again to smash donation records, as 30 53-foot semi-trailers were filled, to go along with an astounding 5783 bicycles collected, and $430,315 in cash and gift cards, bringing the 17 year total of toys, bikes, and gift cards collected to an estimated value of nearly 20 million dollars. In 2015 alone, Chet again raised nearly five million dollars for various causes, and is on pace to easily exceed that number in 2016. Additionally, Buchanan serves proudly on the Candlelighters Board of Trustees, the HELP of Southern Nevada Board of Trustees, the Monday’s Dark Board of Directors, and the Variety-The Children’s Charity Board of Directors. The City of Las Vegas has recognized Chet’s involvement and dedication to the community by declaring a “Chet Buchanan Day” in Las Vegas, he has been named “Best Of The City” by Vegas Seven Magazine, “Best of Las Vegas” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and received the 2016 Silver State Humanitarian Award. On September 12 of this year, Chet was applauded around the globe for his groundbreaking work auctioneering the star-studded “Criss Angel HELP Celebrity Auction.”
